The Quest for a Sublime Experience
Club Melt’s purpose is to explore the sublime. To explore this sensation, Melt believes you need two simple but essential ingredients – good chocolate and good technique.
Good Chocolate contains neurotransmitters that trigger the feelings of pleasure and love.
Chocolate has over 300 chemical compounds and is one of the most complex and tantalising of foods. Among those chemical compounds are some powerful neurotransmitters that release serotonin and is why Chocolate is described as the wonder drug or the "food of the Gods".
The three chocolate chemical compounds which act as neurotransmitters are:
Theobromine caffeines chemical cousin, which is a stimulant for the central nervous system and the circulation of blood.
Phenylethylamine which triggers the release of pleasurable endorphins and is sometimes called “the love drug”
Tetrahydrocannabinol or Anandamides which activates dopamine production, causing a feeling of intense well-being and euphoria. The name derives from the Sanskrit word "ananda", which means "bliss."
Good technique requires a community of chocolate lovers. For a shared experience and the slow appreciation of chocolate as it melts in your mouth is to enter the sublime world of chocolate itself. To experience the sublime, you must place a small piece on the centre of your tongue. Close your mouth and let it melt. Chocolate is one of the few foods that melts at body temperature. You should start to detect the different notes that may remind you of other foods, nuts, coffee, licorice, red fruits are all common notes found within chocolate. Sharing this experience with others is to enter the Wonderful World of Chocolate and experience the sublime.
